Frequently asked questions
How do I play online?
Online play uses Game Center. Open Settings › Game Center on your iPhone or iPad and sign in with your Apple Account. Then, in the app, tap Online for a random rival or With Friends to invite with a link or a code. If nobody shows up within a few seconds, you can play one of the app's characters in the meantime.
What is the difference between “Live” and “Turn-Based”?
In Live games, both players play at the same time. In Turn-Based games, each player moves whenever they can and Game Center lets you know when it's your turn. Three Men's Morris, Conquián and Cribbage are Live only.
Why are the rules different from the ones I know?
For many ancient games the complete rules have not survived. Ludéum follows the reconstructions of historians and archaeologists, and when they disagree it lets you choose a variant. In each game, the “i” button explains what we know and what we don't.
How do I learn a new game?
On each game's page, tap Learn to Play: it's a guided tutorial at Easy difficulty. The “i” cards have the history, an animated explanation and the full rules.
When do the weekly tournaments start?
The Weekly League and the Game of the Week start on Monday, November 2, 2026. Each week runs from Monday at 12:00 AM to Sunday at 11:59 PM, Mexico City time. To appear on the leaderboards you need Game Center.
Do my statistics move to another device?
Yes, if you are signed in to iCloud with the same account: your statistics, challenges, stamps, laurels, achievements, online rank, name and emblem are stored in your iCloud and are the same on all your devices, even if you delete the app and install it again. They may take a few seconds to arrive. Games in progress and settings stay on each device. Game Center achievements and leaderboards also follow you with your Game Center account.
Do I have to pay to play?
No. All the games are free to play, with no ads. Patron is an optional one-time purchase to support the museum: it adds frames, emblems, pieces, dice and “Museum” boards.
I'm already a Patron, but it doesn't show up on another device
Open the Patron screen and tap Restore Purchases with the same App Store account. If someone in your family made the purchase, it is shared through Family Sharing.
How do I change the language?
Ludéum is available in Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Catalan and Italian, and uses your device's language. To change it only for the app, open Settings › Ludéum › Language.
How do I change the board or turn on dark mode?
In the Games tab, tap the palette button at the top: there you choose the board style, the background and the appearance (System, Light or Dark). Next to it are the buttons to turn off sounds and music.
Delete your Ludéum data
On iPhone and iPad, Ludéum keeps none of your data on servers: you can erase your statistics from your profile (Erase Stats) or by deleting the app.
On Android, if you played online, our Firebase project stores your player ID, your online games and your phone’s notification ID. Finished games are deleted automatically after 30 days. To delete everything sooner:
- Open the support form (button above).
- Choose “Otro” (Other) as the topic and write “Delete my Ludéum data on Android”, with the Google Play Games player name you use in the app.
- We will confirm by email once it is done, within 30 days.
We delete your Firebase player ID, all your online games and invitations, and your notification IDs. We keep no copy. What Google Play Games keeps with your Google account (achievements, leaderboards and saved games) can be deleted from the Play Games app or your Google account.
